  • Mandatory waiting period after the blood test
  • All paperwork submitted prior to arrival

Japan

IATA & Airline-Compliant Kennels for 2026

Every pet flies in an IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR) Container Requirement 1 kennel. Use the guide below to measure your pet and select the right size — then make sure your crate is outfitted to current airline standards.

PcsMyPetKennelClub logo — from cargo to companionship

How to Measure Your Pet

With your pet standing naturally on all four feet, measure in inches:

  1. A — Length: tip of nose to base of tail (where it meets the body).
  2. B — Leg height: floor to elbow joint.
  3. C — Shoulder width: widest point across the shoulders.
  4. D — Standing height: floor to the top of the head or tip of the ear (whichever is taller, even when standing fully erect).

Required Kennel Length

A + ½ B

Required Kennel Width

C × 2

Required Kennel Height

D + 3 in clearance above the head/ears

The "3-Position" Rule

Your pet must be able to stand fully, turn around 360°, and lie down naturally inside.

Failure to comply with proper kennel measurements will result in delayed shipping, and additional fees will be added for upgrading the kennel. Customer will be held responsible for additional fees due to delays.

Rule of thumb: No part of your pet should be taller or longer than the kennel when standing outside the kennel.
